Okay, does anyone else who wears contact lenses or glasses find that high street opticians are ALL inefficient and useless? They’re great when you’re a new customer and they’re trying to get your business but any form of service thereafter is nothing short of appalling. I wear monthly contact lenses and it helps to have a supplier you can actually get hold of. I’ve moved around quite a bit in the last few years and I honestly cannot say there is one optician that I have been happy with. And I don’t find these problems with other service providers. Like, eventually my phone company will answer the phone, but my optician just lets it ring and ring – there’s no phone system with a designated operator –it’s just so disrespectful to their PAYING customers.
I was so frustrated at wasting my phone bill trying to get in contact with them to inform them of my change of address, I had to actually spend three hours of my evening travelling to their store only to be met with the rudest ever member of “staff” telling me I should have booked an appointment – how you stupid idiot, your stupid company doesn’t pick up the phone! Another customer in the store was just in complete agreement with me and we had this insane conversation along the lines of, their service is just rubbish isn’t it? Always so bad, isn’t it? Yes, it’s disgusting how they treat their customers, at which point I decided to just leave once and for all. I ended up finding an online retailer Postoptics – they sell all the major brands and you have to get your optician to fax them your prescription, and they post your contact lenses for like half the price. After years of rubbish service, I can’t believe I am buying my contact lenses online from a company who respond to you immediately if you have any questions AND deliver your contact lenses for literally half the price – is a strange miracle. Now I only use a small local optician if I need a new eye test or contact lens check.
