Citricidal liquid is an alternative health product comprised largely of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). It typically contains 40-60% GSE, with the remainder made up of other natural beneficial ingredients such as Artemisia, Pulsatilla, barberry, liquorice, PrunusMume, Zanthoxylum, giner and rhizome cotidis.
GSE is said to have strong anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties, and as such has a broad array of uses. However, it is important to note even at this point that due to the high acidity of GSE it is important to dilute it into a solution otherwise it can have an effect that is more harmful than beneficial.
Internal
The principle use of citricidal liquid is in promoting good digestive health, particularly intestinal. However, it is also known to be good as a defence against yeast infections due to its strong anti-bacterial properties. The same properties mean it is also used as a remedy for colds, flus and allergies.
Although it can be taken orally, it is important to dilute the solution to the appropriate ratio as mentioned above, and it is advisable to start on a low dosage and built it up gradually. Anyone with citrus allergies should avoid using citricidal altogether.
External
Due to citricidal’s broad set of properties, it also has a broad set of uses and application. It can be used as a general purpose disinfectant and cleanser. As such it can be used for a range of facial problems such as acne and shaving injuries, as well as throat gargling, on the ear and minor skin irritations, warts and athlete’s foot. Some people also swear by it as an anti-dandruff solution. For more serious skin problems, a doctor should always be consulted.
Domestic
The most surprising uses of citricidal lie in the domestic arena. For example, a solution of citricidal can be used to sanitise your toothbrush every night: just stir 5-10 drops into a glass of water and leave the toothbrush in it between uses. Change the water every few days to retain effectiveness.
Citricidal may also be used to wash vegetables, fruit, meat and poultry as well as disinfecting chopping boards. Essentially, some people choose to use citricidal as a natural alternative to more standard disinfectants and anti-bacterial agents.
Travel
Due to citricidal having such a broad range of properties and uses, many natural health practitioners recommend it as a travel aid. This tiny bottle can help you save a tremendous amount of packing space in replacing numerous other products that you might take with you ‘just in case’.
